Yes, another threat about hacks, but hear me out, i got something new.

Ppl have been worried about the increase of hacks lately, and with reason. amongst my close friends too, ppl have been hacked and according to them they surely didnt have easy to break passwords. no email notification, no pws change, no keyloggers, no suspicious sites, nothing of any sign that they would be hacked, just their char is suddenly stripped.

Now the funny thing is, most ppl who got hacked are prolly at their own fault.
I bet most of the ppl who got hacked have their username somewhere else open for the world to see. this may be on this forum, on their guild site or on some other fan based site, that can be linked to Rappelz.
all the hackers have to do is, get that username, get a pws cracker to log in untill it gets the pws right.

Now luckely for most of us, we dont have our usernames out there so carelessly.
sadly for those who do: when you try to get into an account, after a number of attempts, you get a time out to log in. all the hacker has to do, is to change the IP and continue cracking either the same or another account, to continue on the first account when the time out is over.

I asked for an official response if there even was such a system as a limit on the number of pws attempts to a forum moderator first. they contacted a GM and told me about the time out system. i also got a bonus:

They are in the process of upgrading these systems to better insure account security.

It is at times like this that i really want that pws on the WH back...

This way there is no email adress involved, only time and your username. You will not find any warning be4 u get hacked untill it is too late.
Test it, google your username+Rappelz and see if surprisingly your info is out there for the world to see.

Now for a lot of you this is sensitive info, but you now know what to do against this at least. dont know if it really helps but increasing your pws length would prolly help as well, eventho ur just buying more time.
